Deer or the Doe was one of the first bands we ever recorded, and we’ve been happy to have them back to The Banana Stand on several occasions. The group rocks wicked hard, so it’s with great pleasure that we’re happy to share the live sounds of Deer or the Doe along with Spy Island in the March 27th Split, now available for pay-what-you-want in our online store.
The recordings have been being prepared for over year as part of a special project for both bands. After hosting and recording the live sets of both Deer or the Doe and Spy Island, the bands decided they wanted to release an experimental, split-album. Rian Lewis (Spy Island) provided additional tracking and mixed and mastered the album.
The split album from Deer or the Doe and Spy Island is a beautiful, cassette-tape art project from the collective Wants To Give You, and it’s neat to have been the catalyst for the final product. As supporters of Banana Stand Media, please feel free download and share this excellent music for free.

The March 27th Split was recorded in front of a live audience on March 27th, 2010 at the Banana Stand in Portland, Oregon. The album was mixed and mastered Rian Lewis, who also worked with the bands on tracking in addition to the original live recordings. Album art was created by Aaron Robert Miller. The Banana Stand would like to thank Deer or the Doe, Spy Island and all who participated in this album’s creation and anyone that has helped us out along the way.
