Live Record: Bevelers

Bevelers – Live from the Banana Stand will be released on Thursday, April 30th at The Old Church, where Bevelers will play in support for Shook Twins (hosted by KPSU, Montucky Cold Snacks, CD Baby, and Banana Stand, natch.) The digital release will be Tuesday, May 5th. Until then, please enjoy the preview track, “The Sound, Silence Made More.”

In early 2014, Bevelers’ Be Your Own Creature was often the first record I’d listen to each day. The sparse beauty and thoughtfulness of their folk compositions and striking clarity of the duo’s vocals made for a great start to the morning. The more I listened, the more excited I became to host them for a live recording.

Bevelers impressed me all the more with their live performance. Their vocals were even more brilliant live than I’d hoped they’d be. Their delivery was crisp, their manner professional, and their attitude nonchalant. The audience was utterly captivated.

When I watch Bevelers’ videos, I’m struck by how relaxed they appear. This performance seemed like no big deal for them. That makes sense — it’s just what they do. But, I thought the performance was really special, and feel lucky that Banana Stand can share this live record with you.

Bevelers – Live from the Banana Stand was recorded before a live audience on March 15th, 2014 at the Banana Stand in Portland, Oregon. The album was recorded and mixed by Michael Finn and mastered by Chris Vita. Dane Brist produced art for the album, which includes original photography from Banana Stand staff. Videos of Bevelers’s performance at Banana Stand feature footage from camera operators Michael McInerney, Darren Hartman, Tyler Bertram, & Quinton Anderson, and were directed and edited by Michael McInerney. Banana Stand would like to thank Bevelers (Lee Aulson & Adria Ivanitsky), all who participated in this album’s creation and anyone that has helped us out along the way.
