SAMA DAMS – Live from the Banana Stand will be released on Thursday, November 15th, 2012. Until then, please enjoy the preview track “Patmos,” a great example of the group’s polyrhythmic sound. Patmos, for those that don’t know, is a Grecian island where St. John was rumored to have spent his last days due to exile by the Roman emporer Domitian. Here, he was said to have received a vision from Jesus about the coming Apocalypse and End of Days.
It’s easy to see how one could write a prophecy of doom and destruction while possibly dying of starvation and disease under religious repression from one of history’s greatest nation-states. But, it turns out many scholars agree that it was another John entirely who wrote the Book of Revelation, and Patmos is an especially lovely island. So, whether or not you’re the God-fearing type, it’s probably a pretty decent vacation destination if you’ve got the money. History!
We had been wanting to record SAMA DAMS (previously Sam Adams – no, not the mayor or the beer) for a while after hearing the release of the group’s EP Draw This Blood. Some unfortunate business with the cops and Occupy Wall Street out in New York delayed the first attempt, followed by a change-up of members. Despite some setbacks that prevented us from getting the band in to record earlier in the year, we were excited to get the band to come in during our epic 2012 summer.
All professionally trained musicians, Sama Dams is a level-up in pop music similiar to Dirty Projects or early Radiohead. The 10-track we’re proud to release is a powerful burst of tunes, including a track titled “Coyote Dreams in the City” which has a killer music video by Collective-47 Productions!
If you dig SAMA DAMS – Live from the Banana Stand, please consider donating a few bucks when you download this album so that both we and the band can continue creating excellent work for you to enjoy.
