Awesome music, recorded live in Portland, Oregon.
This week it's a blast from the 'Stand's past: End of the World by Portland's own Lonesome Radio Heart.
Two years ago, in a place with which you're familiar…
February 9th, 2008 (more than two years ago, holy shit), the 'Stand hosted its second event, a concert with these great psychedelic rockers. Our first event was of course the epic Dec. 31, 2007 NYE show with Deer or the Doe and Tranquilazer, but we messed up the recording, and thus our earliest recorded work comes from this second show with Lonesome Radio Heart.
The 'Stand's earliest work
End of the World comes from a key part the 'Stand's development. Paul Culpepper (with help from other LRH-ers) did an excellent job mixing from captures that were much rougher than what we manage today. The sound that Paul created from the 'Stand's live captures convinced us of the potential of live recording. The 'Stand's relationship with LRH put us on the path to where we are today.
So, this week, previously released but probably new to you: End of the World. We hope you love it.
