The Nextdoor Neighbors - Live from the Banana Stand was recorded on April 24th, 2010, with the electronic duo playing just before Destroy Nate Allen wrangled the crowd into a semi-circle sing-a-long. The duo of Kathy and Jessie made a dynamic and powerful music force that was both honest and accessible.
The best label for The Nextdoor Neighbors is probably electronic dream-pop, but it's something more that's unclassifiable. The musicians often collaborated online since they were split between Portland, Oregon and Olympia, Washington. Kathy and Jessie started playing music together in 2007, but unfortunately are no longer a band. But, you can read more about their background our interview with them from last year.
It's a privilege to release this live album, especially since, like so many of the bands we've recorded, there may never be another way to hear this art again. Tony Ong made the poster for that night, and it's pretty rad. Jott Robertson took some incredible photos from the night's recording event, too.
We're offering The Nextdoor Neighbors - Live from the Banana Stand for the low-low price of pay-what-you-want, a pretty sweet deal for such excellence music. The track "What Ya Think" is one of my favorites, and if you like it, please share it with your friends. Although the album is name-your-price, we hope you'll contribute something to help independent musicians. Thanks for reading, and for listening too. It's a great album, enjoy.
