We're proud to released No Kind of Rider - Live from the Banana Stand for a pay-what-you-want download on Sept. 18th, 2012. Be sure to preview the excellent track "Temporary" to hear just how great the album sounds!
Moving from Oklahoma to Portland, No Kind of Rider has enjoyed a decent amount of respect and publicity in Portland ever since they released their first EP. We were excited to have the band in to record after seeing them perform with The Greater Midwest at Mississippi Studios a couple years back, and are thrilled that this live album feature several tracks never-before-released.
Loud and layered, No Kind of Rider has unfortunately been ignorantly labeled as similar to TV on the Radio and Block Party, but the band actually sounds more like some of the early, more driving day of Death Cab for Cutie, only with more powerful vocals. Of course, even that comparission is relatively shallow as describing No Kind of Rider's emotional, yet shoegaze turned math-rock type of sound.
Stand out songs on the album include "Danger," the long-form jam "Song 1 (Bulletproof Tiger)," the preview track "Temporary," and "Arial" which was teased out by Willamette Week earlier this year.
If you enjoy this album, please donate some money to our efforts when you download! All profits are split between us and the band, allowing us both to continue to bring you good music. Thank you!
