Music: Hungry Mob - Right in Front of Your Face

About the show: Hungry Mob were discovered (for us, at least) by Ross Faulkenberg, and had a composition that appealed to us entirely. Excellent, socially and politically conscious rhymes from Mike Crenshaw and Rasheeda Ameera, over top of what is still, to this day, one of the best live bands we've recorded. Anchored by Chris Allen's jazz-inspired drum beats, the Lovin' Logic band further featured Chris Harris on bass, Kevin Ellis on keys, and DeAngelo Raines on guitar, with the talented Prophet Noise assisting with engineering.

Hungry Mob delivered an incredibly tight, professional live show to an intimate audience of Standers and Mob-friends. The Mob showed up absolutely ready to record live, and played what has to be considered one of the 'Stand's best sets. They remain some of the best musicians, lyricists and performers we've documented.

Fun facts:
  • DeAngelo Raines later graced the 'Stand solo as Dynast SMG. He is an epic guitar player.
  • Kevin Ellis later participated in a few episodes of early 'Stand Tech Podcast "The Tech Offensive."
  • The fact that Hungry Mob wasn't more appreciated in Portland Music is still surprising to us. But, as we'd see later, there's really no accounting for taste. Still, we consider this to be some of the best content we've been able to record.
