The Ghost Ease is one of those bands we knew we had to record the first time we heard them play. A cascade of sound based on songwriter Jem Marie’s direction, the band can hit like a locomotive with Nsayi Matingou on drums and Laurence Vidal on bass.
With a strong following in the Pacific Northwest, the band continues to gain traction thanks to appearing on such luminary programs as Seattle’s KEXP and performing at CMJ’s Music Marathon in New York City following their second album, RAW, produced by Steve Fisk (Nirvana, The Posies). Their live album with Banana Stand captures the power and intensity fans across Portland have come to know.
The Ghost Ease – Live from the Banana Stand was recorded before a live audience on March 7th, 2015 at the Banana Stand in Portland, Oregon. The album was recorded by Zach Stamler and Matt Thomson, mixed by Zach Stamler, and mastered by Chris Vita. Dane Brist produced art for the album, which includes original photography from Banana Stand staff. Videos of The Ghost Ease’s performance at Banana Stand feature footage from camera operators Tyler Bertram, Nick Gattman, Marie Sullivan, and Adam Smith, and were directed and edited by Tyler Bertram. Banana Stand thanks The Ghost Ease (Jem, Nsayi, and Laurence), all who participated in this album’s creation, and anyone that has helped us out along the way.
