Live Record: Destroy Nate Allen

Unless you’ve been a fan of punk, or know punks, then you might think punk is punk, is punk. Like most genres, the punk most people know about is just the tip of the preverbal iceberg. Over used metaphors aside, Destroy Nate Allen consider’s their brand of music to be “intergalactic sing-a-long-folk punk.” The duo may be aliens, we didn’t ask out of courtesy, but their shows are out of this world. (You see what just happened there.)

Truthfully, Destroy Nate Allen brings happiness to whatever stage they play. Nate and Tessa married in 2008, and ever since have been blending acoustic guitar, quick fire lyrics, and a boisterous crowd pleasing presence to inspire everyone in attendance to join in on the fun.

Call it goof punk, maybe even a little cute punk, and no doubt some with consider this album another notch on Portland’s belt of keeping it weird. Honestly though, if you’re mixed up in the strange scene and down with some riotous love, Destroy Nate Allen feels like home. -A
