Asteroid M came to record at The Banana Stand after Jonah Rose (the singer of the group) and I met while working at Dark Horse Comics. We both left the place under some questionable circumstances, but goddamn if we aren’t still both comic book fans. Asteroid M, if you didn’t already know, is the secret base of X-Men villain (except when he’s their leader) known as Magneto. The band opened for Tiger House, which, that night, featured Alex Arrowsmith on bass.
Asteroid M is a thrash-pop group that is high in energy and youth appeal, literally. The guys brought out one of the biggest crowds we’ve ever had, and then they rocked super-fucking-hard. “Molotov Rocktail” is the featured track because it’s awesome and it’s named after something everyone everywhere wishes they could throw at least once. Admit it.
We’re offering up the album for a pay-what-you-want model, but hope you’ll consider giving $5 to help support the artists, the mixer, and Banana Stand Media so that we can continue our documentation process.
Asteroid M – Live from the Banana Stand was recorded before a live audience on January 23rd, 2010 at the Banana Stand in Portland, Oregon. The album was mixed and mastered Asteroid M’s Matt Thomson. Tony Ong handled design and layout for album art, which features photography by Dan Jones and the August 29th show poster, which was designed by Tiger House’s William Scharmann. The Banana Stand would like to thank Asteroid M and all who participated in this album’s creation and anyone that has helped us out along the way.
