The memory of The We Shared Milk that sticks out the most takes place in a defunct bar that’s now the extended version of the Jam on Hawthorne. One of the members is asking me if I can get them cocaine. We’re pretty familiar at this point, having put out an album and probably been drunk at a show somewhere, sometime.
I can’t. I wish I could. I really wish I could. That would be cool. But, I can’t. I can get them weed, or mushrooms, maybe. Maybe acid, if I try hard enough. But, not cocaine. Good cocaine connects are hard to come by the Pacific Northwest, and even then, the coke is pretty shitty.Read more »
Modern Kin - Live from the Banana Stand will be released Tuesday, September 16th. Until then, please enjoy the preview track, "Big Enough To Cook."
Book them, as soon as possible.
It only took us about 30 seconds to make a decision about Modern Kin. The band's self-titled debut impressed us immediately with its distinctive, confident performances and rich production. Heavier and weirder than local Americana or folk, and with more folk and gospel influences than Portland's indie-rock offerings, Modern Kin has a sound purely its own. It was a sound we knew we had to get into Banana Stand as quickly as we could.Read more »

Alameda is one of our favorite acts in Portland's folk scene, and the group's live record and videos demonstrate why. They just seem so natural. Two of our favorite qualities are authenticity and sincerity, and you can't help feel that when you listen or view.Read more »

Polyrhythmics - Live from the Banana Stand will be available from all finer digital retailers on April 22nd. In the meantime, please enjoy the preview track, Labrador.
Horns are up front. That's what I remember from the stage directions we received from Polyrhythmics. It's a good metaphor for this band's sound. Polyrhythmics' groove -- and, believe me, Polyrhythmics do groove -- is driven by their fantastic rhythm section. But, the band puts their horns up front. And they rip.Read more »

There's not a hint of hyperbole when we say that this record is one of the best we've ever recorded. If you're a fan of Portland music, you likely well know the talents of the Radiation City.
